Roy Gene Lowery age 73 of Maysville, formerly of Purcell, passed away Saturday, June 14, 2014 at his home. He was born July 7, 1940 in Bastrop, Texas. His parents were Fred Lowery and Jewell Fannie Uher. Roy grew up a country boy living near Bastrop, TX. As a young boy he learned how to work hard doing farm work. He kept that same work ethic throughout his life. Roy graduated from Bastrop high school in 1958 and later served two years in the United States Army. Roy began driving a truck when he was a young man. He worked for various trucking companies over his lifelong career and most all of his life he drove cross country. Roy married Frances Kadwell on December 12, 1988 and they made their home in Purcell for many years. He loved being outdoors where he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by: Father, Fred Lowery; Wife, Frances Lowery on Jan. 14, 2006; Two sisters, Lawana and Marie; Three brothers, Michael, Jessie and John;
He is survived by: Mother, Jewell Driver of Dallas; His children, Tracy Lowery of Purcell, Lavanda Stone and husband Patrick of Ada, Theresa Haynes and husband Rocky of Purcell, Elisha Groom of Salem, OR, Michelle Engert and husband Mike of Purcell, Deborah Howard and husband Jeff of OKC, OK; Darla Lee and husband Calvin of Edmond, Cindy Fletcher and husband Bobby of Moore, OK; 2 Brother-In-Laws, Mitchell Hayes and wife Evelyn of Valley View, TX and Tim Hayes and wife Linda of Thackerville, OK; 17 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, Many nieces, nephews and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel in Purcell. Burial will be at the Hillside Cemetery in Purcell.
