Percy Locklear, Jr., age 76 of Blanchard, passed away Monday, Jan. 29, 2007 at Midwest Regional Hospital.
He was born on April 12, 1930 in Fayetteville, N.C. His parents were Percy Locklear, Sr. and Georgie Allen Locklear.
Percy grew up in North Carolina and Ohio. In the 1950s he moved to Oklahoma and it was there he met the love of his life. On May 5, 1983 he married Peggy Lou Thompson and they made their home in Oklahoma City until she passed away in 2004.
Percy worked for the City of Oklahoma City for several years before going to work for the City of Moore. He worked for the City of Moore for nearly 22 years before retiring in 2000.
Percy and Peggy were a couple that had unconditional love for the family. Together they raised several of their grandchildren and help baby sit great grandchildren. There wasn't anything they wouldn't do for their kids. Throughout his life Percy enjoyed fishing and being outdoors. In his later years, all that mattered was being with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Peggy on March 24, 2004; and one grandson, Michael Thompson.
He is survived by two children, Ricky Thompson of Tuttle and Karen Sexton of Blanchard; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one great great grandson; and many friends and co-workers.
Viewing will be Wednesday and Thursday at Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Newcastle. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 2, 2007 at Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel in Purcell. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery in Purcell.
Pallbearers will be Gary Jones, Joe Bob Thompson, Jeffery Hackett, Ricky Joe Thompson II, John Riley Thompson and John Kirkenkamp. Honorary bearers will be his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
