Evelyn Gaye (West) Laird passed away at her home in Pawhuska, Ok on December 8, 2020 at the age of 73. Evelyn was born at home in rural Purcell, Ok. Her parents were Ermon and Mattie (Pittman) West. She was the oldest of 6 children born to Ermon and Mattie and she had her dad’s brown eyes. She attended Wayne Schools and married at 17. She had three children, Mikeal, Melissa and Marty.
She was a very talented seamstress, something she learned from her mother. She also loved to crochet and made many beautiful creations. She was an avid reader and did crossword puzzles with an ink pen.
She was a 45+ year member of the Pawhuska community having worked at C.R. Anthony, Osage Federal Savings and Loan and the Department of Human Services.
She was a devoted mother and friend to all whose lives she touched.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ermon and Mattie West and an infant sibling.
She is survived by her children: Mikeal Murray and his wife Tammy of Guthrie, Ok, Melissa Bible and her husband Donnie of Pawhuska, Ok, Marty Murray of the home in Pawhuska, Ok.
Her grandchildren: Stephen Bible and Kaitlyn Bible
Her siblings; Marilyn Standridge and Jim West of Purcell, Dawaine West of Okc and Lyndell West of Wayne
A private family service will be held Monday, December 14th at 10:00 a.m. @ Hillside Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest beside her mom and dad.
