Louis W. Krapf age 91, of Purcell, OK passed away on Saturday, February 6, 2016, at Westbrook Assisted Living Center in Purcell.

Louis was born on January 5, 1925, at his family’s home in Purcell. He was the first of two sons born to Henry A. Krapf and Beulah M. (Wallace) Krapf. Louis graduated from Purcell High School in 1943 where he was active in football and basketball. Over the years he maintained a close relationship with many classmates. He always looked forward to class reunions and often hosted class of 1943 get-togethers. Upon graduation, Louis entered the U.S. Navy in July of 1943 where he proudly served his country on the USS Prince William in both the South Pacific and the Atlantic. He was honorably discharged on December 19, 1945. After returning home from the military, he joined his father in the family’s plumbing and electric business. In August of 1951 they opened Krapf’s Plumbing & Electric at 130 W. Main in Purcell. Louis continued operating his store until his retirement in December of 1986. Louis married Ilene Farrell on September 9, 1947 in Woodward, OK, and together they operated the family business. Louis was a volunteer with the Purcell Fire Department for 20 years, retiring in 1970. He was a lifetime member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Purcell where he served as Chairman of Trustees. He was often seen around the church doing work or mowing the yard. He and Ilene also belonged to the Moose Lodge. The love of his life the last nine years was his Shih Tzu, “Sparky”. He enjoyed spending time with grandchildren, sitting out back visiting with neighbors, the McCoy’s, watching OU sports, and listening to country music.

He was preceded in death by: His parents, Henry and Beulah Krapf; His wife of 58 years, Ilene, she passed away in 2006; One brother, Joe Krapf; One son, Ted Krapf;

He is survived by: One daughter, Earla Tate and husband Gary of Purcell; Three grandchildren, Liz Leonard and husband Richard of Purcell, Jay Tate and wife Carmella of Purcell, Rev. Kris Tate and wife Kinsie of Shawnee, Two great grandsons, Patrick and Henry of Shawnee; Also several loving nieces, nephews and many friends.

Funeral services will be 2:00pm Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2016 at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Purcell. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery in Purcell. Arrangements are with Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations made in his name to Purcell High School, 2020 N. Green Ave. Purcell, OK 73080, attention Jana Rolin. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Westbrook Gardens Assisted Living, Dr. Bryan Dye and Loving Care Hospice.
