William Lafayte Jones, age 93 of Purcell, passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2014. William was born April 17, 1920 in Kenefic, OK, the 2nd of 4 children born to William Dolphus Jones and Luellen (Askew) Jones. William spent most of his childhood near Kenefic, where he started school. Like most kids of his day, William quit school to help support his family. He later took a job with the WPA and working at Grand Lake. It was here that he met the love of his life; a young woman named Billie Imogene Cathey, and they were united in marriage of April 24, 1942 in Muskogee. They moved to Purcell in the early 1940’s where together they raised 4 children; sons, William Jr, Duane and Roger and a daughter, Carol. William spent many years as a market butcher. He often told the story of he worked with the 1st self-service meat market in Oklahoma at Greenleaf’s in Norman. William loved the Lord and was a faithful member of the Memorial Assembly of God Church in Purcell for more than 52 years. He was a wonderful father, grandfather and friend. He will be dearly missed!

He was preceded in death by: His wife, Imogene Jones in 2012; His son, William Jones Jr.; His parents, William Dolphus and Luellen Jones and His siblings, Lucille Green, W.D. Jones and Paul Kelly Jones.

William leaves behind: His daughter, Carol Young and husband David of Noble; 2 sons, Duane Jones and wife Brenda of Oceanside, CA and Roger Jones of Lexington; 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren; 1 great great and A host of other family and friends.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Monday, February 24, 2014 at the Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at the Hillside Cemetery
