Imogene Jones, age 86, of Purcell, passed away Tuesday, July 03, 2012.
Billie Imogene Cathey was born May 28, 1926, in Hopewell, OK. Raised by her mother and step father, Bess Dilbeck and Lester Ramay, she spent most of her childhood in the Hopewell, Kenefic and Ketchum area, graduating from Ketchum schools.
She met the love of her life, a young man from Kenefic, named William Lafayte Jones and they were married on April 24, 1942 in Muskogee. Together they raised 4 children; sons, William Jr.(Butch), Duane and Roger and a daughter, Carol. They lived in various places as they followed work. They spent time in Nevada, Arizona and California before settling back in Purcell. Imogene worked tirelessly as a homemaker, caring and providing for her family. She cherished being a wife and mother. She loved the Lord and served faithfully at the Memorial Assembly of God Church in Purcell were she had been a member since 1948.
She was preceded in death by:
Her parents: Lester & Bess Ramay;
Her biological father, Charles Anderson Cathey
Her son: William Jones Jr.
Imogene leaves behind:
Her husband, William ‘W. L.’ Jones, of the home;
Her daughter, Carol Young and husband David of Noble, OK
2 sons, Duane Jones and wife Brenda of Oceanside, CA
Roger Jones and wife Cindy of Purcell
11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren, and
A host of other family and friends.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Saturday, July 7, 2012, at the Memorial Assembly of God Church. Burial will follow at the Hillside Cemetery in Purcell.
