Louise Jenkins, age 88 of Purcell, passed away Friday, May 6, 2016 at the Lexington Nursing Home. Velma Louise Mayo was born September 3, 1927 in Purcell, the 6th of 8 children born to Elijah Oscar “Lige” Mayo and Nancy Viola (Ballard) Mayo. She was raised west of Purcell near the Woody Chapel area. Louise married Silas Jasper Hunt in 1945, and to this union, 11 children were born. They made their home on the family farm west of Purcell. They moved into town in 1963 on Fox St. After Louse lost Silas, she worked at the University of Oklahoma. Louise, later married Dors “Dee Jenkins in 1972. From this union one more son was born, and she welcomed two step daughters. She was a proud mother and grandmother, instilling Biblical truth and a strong love for God in her family. She played the piano and loved to sing in church and you would never find her happier, than when all of her kids would gather in her home to sing around the piano. She enjoyed baking and was known mostly for her homemade rolls and cinnamon rolls. Louise was an avid doll collector and spent years acquiring all types of baby dolls. She was a wonderful example of a wife and mother and leaves a lasting legacy for children and grandchildren. She was a longtime and devoted member of the Pentecostal Church of God. She will be dearly missed!

She was preceded in death by: Her husbands, Silas Hunt and Dee Jenkins; Two children, Reece Hunt and June Wilson; Great Grandson, Austin Hunt; Her parents, Lige and Nancy Mayo and 5 siblings, Vernie Jernigan, Nina Adams, Troy Mayo, Loy Mayo and Bonnie Weber.

Louise leaves behind: Her children, Reuel Hunt of Denver, CO, LaQuetta Harthcock and husband David of Lexington, Danny Hunt and wife Mineda of Wynnewood, Paul Hunt and wife Sharon of Lexington, Lacrisa Ann Roberson and husband Robert of Purcell, David Hunt and wife Linda of Purcell, Randy Hunt and wife Teresa of Sand Springs, Sheila Roxall and husband Dennis of Edmond, Sophia Arain and Jim of Seattle, WA, Daniel Jenkins of Norman, Joyce Taylor and husband Derek of Stockton, CA and Dorene Bean of Stockton, CA; 23 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews And a host of other family and friends.
