Iris Irwin, age 80, of Moore passed away on January 22, 2024.

Iris Claudine Blackwell was born on September 10, 1943 in Lexington, Oklahoma, the 3rd of 6 children born to Claude “Jodie” Blackwell and Gwendola Delora (Wade) Blackwell. When Iris was around 15 years old, the Blackwell family moved to Valley Brook, Oklahoma. Iris finished her education at SE High School and graduated with the Spartan Class of 1961.

She married young to Alvin L. Irwin, and together they had three wonderful sons: Eugene, Tim, and Johnathan.

Iris was driven and dedicated to working hard every single day. She worked several jobs, and at times had more than one job, to support her family. Iris served as a crossing guard for Moore Public Schools before transitioning into an Indian Tutor position. She truly had a servant's heart and was passionate about shaping the minds of the future generations. She retired from Moore Public Schools in 2013. Iris also worked as a cashier at Walmart for 20 years, before retiring in 2020. Her work ethic was a true testament of her core values and beliefs.

In her free time, she enjoyed reading a good book or watching TV (especially Little House on the Prairie and the Hallmark Channel). Iris always looked forward to her weekly Friday lunches with the “Lunch Bunch Crew”. More than anything, Iris was a family woman. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She truly cherished every moment with them. Iris was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, and a true friend. She will be dearly missed!

She was preceded in death by: her parents, Claude and Gwendola Blackwell; sisters, Jonell Orr and Joy Teel.

Iris is survived by: her sons, Eugene Irwin and wife Karrie of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Tim Irwin and wife Annie of Guthrie, Johnathan Irwin and wife Shannon of Norman; brothers, Claudie Blackwell and wife Darla of Moore, Joe Blackwell and wife Donna of Tuttle; sister, Brenda Krausse of Wetumka; 11 grandchildren, Justina Irwin, Sierra Morgan and husband Matt, Rachael Broussard, Sarah Broussard, Allison Irwin, Tremayne Wells Sr. and wife Jesse, Nathan Wells Sr. and wife Misty, Brittainy Goss and husband Casey, Shelbi Irwin, Samuel Irwin, and Jaycee Irwin; 9 great-grandchildren, Jax Martin, Lux Broussard, Seager Hobbs, Nicholas Morgan, Tanae Wells, Britney Finney, Nathan Wells Jr., Tremayne Wells Jr., and Courtney Goss; 7 great-great grandchildren, Katelynn Munoz, Kassidy Munoz, Makayla Munoz, Ayleana Irwin, Abel Wells, Kaiser Finney, Eliza Wells, and a host of other family and friends.

Public visitation will be held from 1-5 Sunday. The family will receive guests and relatives from 3-5 P.M.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Monday, January 29, 2024 at Redeemer Church. The church address is 3651 Cascade Blvd. Norman, OK 73072. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Purcell, OK.
