In the late 1890's, the Love Family of Purcell presented land to the City for a cemetery. It became Hillside Cemetery. At that time, it was considered way out in the country.
Hillside Cemetery is located south of Purcell on Hwy 39 West, .06 of a mile west of Green Avenue, on the south side of the highway. It is well maintained and is very pretty as it is located on a hillside and overlooks a lake to the south.
If you have family buried in the Hillside Cemetery and you have obits (with the newspapers permission or an obit that you wrote) and wish to have it placed here, please send it to us. If you have tombstone photos or individual portraits or wish to write a short bio about someone buried here we would love to have it for our records. If you have a history of the cemetery and would like to add your information to this website, or can take a gate photo that we can place on the website or can give driving directions to the cemetery please contact the area coordinator for more information on how to submit your information. You can also check out our How to Submit page.

The City of Purcell has placed a computer at the cemetery to help in locating the gravesites. It is located in the Maintenance building. There is a large wall map that shows the lot number locations and several of the roads are named to help in navigating the cemetery.
We would like to thank the City of Purcell for providing their cemetery listing to us and answering all our questions.
