Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Howell age 83 of Lubbock, formerly of Wayne, Oklahoma went home to be with her Lord on Friday, April 24, 2015.

Betty was born on February 26, 1932 in Canadian, Texas. Her parents were Hampton Clifford Brewer and Fern (Straughan) Brewer. Betty grew up and attended school in Oklahoma City. There she met and later married the love of her life, David Leon Howell. They were married on October 6, 1951 in Oklahoma City and together raised two children, Melinda and Jim. Betty was a wife and homemaker while David provided for the family as a Church of Christ Minister. They lived in various towns throughout Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas and Texas. She and David moved to Wayne, Oklahoma in 1989 when David became the minister at the Wayne Church of Christ. After David passed away in 2007, Betty moved to Lubbock, Texas in 2008 to be closer to her son and his family. Betty was a wonderful wife, mother and faithful Christian woman. For many years she taught Sunday School and was active in many areas of church and her husband’s ministry. Throughout her life, she enjoyed sewing, cooking and babysitting. She was active with the Wayne Senior Citizens and for many years delivered meals-on-wheels to shut-in’s. She loved reading her bible, going to church, thinking and praying for others.

She was preceded in death by: Husband, David Howell on October 28, 2007;

She is survived by: Two children, Melinda Miller and husband Chris of Tauranga, New Zealand, Jim Howell and wife Marla of Lubbock, Texas; One brother, Ray Brewer and wife Jane of Gore, OK; Five grandchildren, four great grandchildren, And a host of friends from the various communities in which she lived.

Graveside funeral services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at Hillside Cemetery in Purcell, OK. Arrangements are by Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell, OK.
