Ora Elizabeth Holland age 114 of Yukon, formerly of Tulsa, passed away Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at the Heritage Assisted Living Center. She was born on December 24, 1900 in Rosebud, Missouri. She was the third child of 12 children born to Nathan Reed and Stella Ruth (Johnson) Reed. Ora became a beauty operator after graduating from high school in Mountain Home, Arkansas. She and her family moved to Sand Springs in 1918. She lived in Seminole, OK, Longview, TX, Dallas, TX, Tulsa for nearly 25 years before moving to Yukon in 2012. On July 25, 1923, she married Thomas Holland in Broken Arrow, OK. Together they raised one daughter, Ruth Ann. Ora was married for 18 years before Mr. Holland died in 1941. Determined to make it on her own, she worked hard to provide for herself and her daughter. She first worked in an office, and then during World War II, she worked in the shipyards in California. She later owned and operated her own beauty shop for 12 years. She private bought and sold properties, and greatly enjoyed flipping houses. And she began a commercial babysitting service called “ABC Baby Sitting Services” While living in Tulsa she was a faithful member of Southwood Baptist Church. After she became 100 years old she became a member of the Centenarian Club and she was presently the oldest Centenarian in the State of Oklahoma.
