Lee Harris, age 85 of Wayne, passed away Sunday, September 10, 2017. Thomas Lee Harris was born April 15, 1932, in Wayne, the oldest of 4 children born to Thomas Otto Harris ad Anne B. (Key) Harris. Lee grew up learning the value of hard work. He attended Wayne schools, and later joined the United States Air Force. Lee married his best friend and the love of his life, Joyce Lajune Wilson, on August 27, 1955 in Gainesville, TX. They made their home in Wayne where together they raised 3 children, daughter, Annita and sons, Johnny and Kenneth. Lee worked in the oil field for a time, but later took a job at Tinker Air Force Base. He retired as a missile mechanic after more than 32 years of dedicated service. After retiring, Lee sold Rush Springs water melons at the water tower in Purcell. In his later years, he attended to Johnny and maintained various rental properties. Lee was a longtime member of the Wayne First Baptist Church, and was recently recognized for 75 years of membership. He was a wonderful father and grandfather, brother, uncle and a good friend. He will be dearly missed!
He was preceded in death by: His wife, Joyce Harris; Son, Johnny Harris; His parents, Tom and Anne B. Harris and Two infant sisters, Sarah Christine and Mamie Sue Harris.
Lee leaves behind: His daughter, Annita Halladay and husband Doc of Wayne; Son, Kenneth Harris of Wayne; Sister, Velma Bacon and husband Bill of Purcell; 2 grandchildren, Raymond Williams and wife Raven of Lexington and Leslea Hale and husband Nathan of Norman; 6 great grandchildren, Makayla, Austin, Taylor, Kylea, Katherine and Bently; Several nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 13, 2017, at the First Baptist Church in Wayne. Burial will follow at the Hillside Cemetery in Purcell.
