Gale Harper, age 78 of Purcell, passed away, Tuesday, June 13, 2017. Howard Gale Harper was born February 15, 1939 in Purcell, to Robert Luther ‘Rob’ Harper and Irene Elizabeth (Howard) Harper. He was raised in Purell and attended Purcell schools, graduating in 1958. Gale joined the United States Army and later transferred to the Army Reserve, proudly serving his country. Gale was an entrepreneur, and returned home to Purcell where he purchased an Exxon Gas Station. He owned & operated Harper’s Exxon and later Harper’s Service Station for many years, and eventually Harper’s Gas & Diesel. Gale served Purcell and the surrounding communities transporting diesel, gasoline and oil for more than 30 years. He loved animals and especially horses, and when not working, you could find him training his horses. Gale loved his family and was a good friend to many. He will be dearly missed!
He was preceded in death by: His daughter, Andrea Cole in 2013; His parents, Rob and Irene Harper; 2 brothers, Kenneth and Richard Harper and 1 sister-in-law, Vera Harper.
Gale leaves behind: Son-in-law, Joe Cole of Purcell; His children, C.J. Cook and wife Leslie of Weatherford; Angelia Howry and husband Cleo of Dibble, Kent Weddle and wife Dawn of Lexington and Kyle Harper of Purcell; 1 Brother, Robert D. Harper of Placentia, CA; 3 sisters, Carolyn Harper of Dallas, Darlene Meskimen and husband Bob of Purcell and Shelia Matthews and husband Dan of Norman; 2 Sisters-in-law, Barbara Jo Harper of OKC and Johnnie Harper of Norman; 7 Grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Friday, June 16, 2017, at the Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at the Hillside Cemetery.
