Goldsby, Vera, of Goldsby, OK was born January 14, 1918 in Ada, Oklahoma to Frank and Ida Smith and passed away Monday, December 19, 2011 at Grace Living Center in Norman, Oklahoma. Vera was married to Ray G. Goldsby on December 30, 1935.
She was preceded in death by both parents; her brother, Harold Smith; and her husband Ray.
She is survived by two sons, Ray F. Goldsby and wife Lianne of Norman and Jerry H. Goldsby and his wife Marcie Ann of Portland, OR; seven grandchildren, Shane Goldsby and wife Heather, Sharilyn Herndon and husband Edward, Bud Goldsby and wife Stephanie, Jay Goldsby and wife Eugenia, Linn Goldsby and Keri Hughes, Christy Goldsby and husband Dave Ewald, and Jim Goldsby and wife Laura; and nine great grandchildren, Maia and Anna Goldsby, Hallie and Bria Herndon, Roman and Piper Goldsby, Lilly Goldsby Hughes, Jamahl Goldsby, and soon-to-be Parker Goldsby.
Vera moved to Goldsby, OK in the late 1940's and lived there in the town named after her husband's father until moving to Grace Living Center in November of 2005. She retired from the University of Oklahoma where she was a secretary to the Dean of Education. She was a member and past officer in the Eastern Star, and a member of McFarlin United Methodist Church in Norman. Vera loved her family more than anything in this world. She loved to travel and go to OU football games.
Memorials may be made to your favorite charity in her
honor. Her family wants to thank Grace Living Center and their entire staff for
being so loving and caring to Vera, with a special thanks to Ronda Richey.
Visitation will be held 9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m., Monday, December 26, 2011 and
Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at Havenbrook Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 28, 2011 in the
Chapel of the Havenbrook Funeral Home with
interment following at 1:00 p.m. at
Hillside Cemetery, Purcell, Oklahoma.
