Julia (Hostetter) Garvin age 93 of Purcell, went to meet her family in Heaven on Saturday, November 16, 2013. She was born July 28, 1920 in Asher, Oklahoma. She was one of four children born to George Wade Hostetter and Christene (Odell) Hostetter. Julia grew up in Asher and graduated with the class of 1938. She then attended East Central University and later Oklahoma University where she received her BA degree in Education. She later met and married Winston J. Garvin and together they raised one daughter, Deborah Kay. Julia taught school in Asher, Trousdale, Tribbey and later Purcell. Midway during her years of teaching and before she retired from teaching, she helped her husband start their own business called “W. J. Garvin Construction”. For nearly 30 years she was the company bookkeeper. Julia was a faithful Christian and was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Purcell for many years. She loved to cook, clean, travel and send event cards. She was famous for her ability to recall dates and details. She was the family memory keeper and her ability to do this will be missed by all her family.
She was preceded in death by: Parents: George and Christene Hostetter, Two brothers: George Hostetter and Jim Hostetter, One sister: Mae Ellen Ranells Beaman, Husband: Winston J. Garvin And her only beloved daughter: Deborah Kay Garvin.
She leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews along with a host of cousins and friends.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Daniel Rex Dixon for his tireless loving care of Julia while in the nursing home. Also to Bev and Jim Hodges for their never ending support and friendship. A special thanks goes to the staff at Sunset Estates and to the staff of Crossroads Hospice.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Thursday, November 21, 2013 at Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery in Purcell
