Bob Garman age 83 of Purcell passed away early Tuesday morning February 02, 2016 in Oklahoma City.

Bob was born on July 14, 1932 in Tulsa, OK. He was the 4th child of eight children born to Earl Garman and Margaret Leola (Moore) Garman. Bob grew up in Afton, OK and graduated from Afton High School in 1950. After high school he joined the U. S. Navy and proudly served his country four years. He was on the ship the U.S.S. Iowa for two years and served another two years in Panama. After being honorably discharged he returned home to Afton, OK where he met the love of his life, Jeanetta Sutton. They later united in marriage on December 14, 1956 in Sand Springs, OK. That following year their only son Jim was born. Bob’s first job was working for McDonald Douglas in Tulsa for several years. After a major layoff he got a bank teller job with Admiral State Bank in Tulsa in 1958. This was the beginning of his lifelong career in Banking over the next 40 years. Bob worked in Altus for 10 years for the National Bank of Commerce, 10 years in Collinsville for the American Exchange Bank, Muldrow four years, Claremore four years, Adair two years and then moved to Purcell in 1983. While living in Purcell he worked for the First American Bank for 16 years, retiring as Senior Vice President. After he retired he continued to work part time for several years. Throughout his life, Bob enjoyed fishing and boating, golfing, raising cattle, doing woodworking and gospel song writing. Bob was a faithful Christian and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Purcell. He will be remembered as a wonderful father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was also a special brother and uncle. He will be dearly missed by his family.

He was preceded in death by: Parents, Earl and Margaret Garman; Wife, Jeanetta Garman on Sept. 6, 2014; One brother, Earl Garman Jr; Three sisters, Marge Tallon, Ann Brooks and Jo Graham;

He is survived by: Son, Jim Garman and wife Marilyn of Edmond; Three sisters, Jane Atkinson and husband David of Tulsa, Shirley Doss and husband Bob of Magnolia, Arkansas, Pat Powell and husband Jerry of Afton, OK; Two grandchildren, Jason Garman and wife Lori of Edmond, Sabrina Covey and husband Craig of Midland, TX; Two great grandchildren, Aria and Natalie Garman. Also many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Friday, Feb. 5, 2016 at Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel in Purcell. Followed by interment at Hillside Cemetery in Purcell.
