Emil Engdahl, age 85, of Purcell passed away peacefully on December 5, 2023 surrounded by his family.
Emil Leon Engdahl was born on September 29, 1938 in Purcell, Oklahoma, the youngest of 3 children born to Eric Set Engdahl and Katherine M. (Wellinghoff) Engdahl.

By chance, Emil was set up on a blind date through mutual friends. He was introduced to a young lady named, Betty Lorene Frizell. The two fell in love quickly and were married in Gainesville, Texas in 1962. Their love story was nothing short of epic, as they shared 61 wonderful years of marriage together. They made their home in Purcell where they raised their 3 beautiful children- Leon, Pam, and Kathy.
Emil worked in construction his whole life, and even owned and operated his own company, Emil Engdahl Construction. He valued hard work and demonstrated that every single day, retiring at the age of 74.
When he wasn’t working you could find him fishing, camping, mowing, or tinkering with his tools and equipment. Emil was very strong, driven, kind, and compassionate. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it! Emil was a simple man, and he truly appreciated the simple things in life. He prioritized spending time with his family and he never missed an opportunity to pester them! He truly cherished every moment with them. Emil was a beloved husband, dad, brother, papa, big papa, and a true friend. He will be dearly missed!
