On July 29, 2023, Robert “Bob” Allen Emerson became absent from his body to be present with the Lord. He leaves a huge hole in the hearts of his family and many friends who were always entertained by his stories and sense of humor.

Bob was born on July 8, 1937, in Purcell, Oklahoma to John and Hallie Emerson. He married the love of his life, Judy Boatwright, on January 23, 1959. They had three daughters who he adored.

He graduated from Purcell High School in 1955. He attended the University of Oklahoma (Boomer Sooner!) for two years and graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma. He served in the United States Army, and was a cryptographer in the Korean War.

Bob was a teacher and a banker and a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church. He was an avid reader, loved to travel, and was very intelligent and quick witted. He enjoyed sailing, woodworking, fishing, and traveling to his grandchildren’s sporting events and activities. He was an amazing self-taught musician with a special love of the guitar.

After retirement, Bob and Judy relocated to Destin, FL where they owned and operated a blue print business. The last 23 years, he has enjoyed life on Petit Jean Mountain and volunteering at the Winthrop Rockefeller Institute.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Judy, his daughters Julie Martin (Jim), and Hope Clements (Stephen), and his grandchildren Sarah Catherine Davis, Preston Martin, Justin Martin, Z Clements, Hank Clements, and Hallie Clements, and a host of great grandchildren. His canine companion, Hettie, was very dear to him.

Bob is now at peace, joining his parents, siblings, and his daughter Hollie. Bob’s family would like to extend their appreciation to the Gentiva Hospice team for their loving support and care.

Graveside Services are scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Thursday, August 3, 2023, at Hillside Cemetery. www.wilsonlittle.com.
