Raymond Gordon Ellis (R.G.) of Wayne passed away on Thursday, April 26,2018 at Norman Hospital at the age of 87 years 1 month 10 days.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 1:00 PM, Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Wadley’s Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, entrusted to the care of Wadley’s Funeral Service.
 

Raymond was born in Oxnard, California, on March 16, 1931 to William Ira and Willie B. Ellis. He graduated from Wayne High School at the age of 16. Raymond went to wheat harvest in Kansas, then went to California with Gordon Sharp and John Hanner to work. Later, Raymond returned to Wayne and married his high school sweetheart, Bonnie Puckett. That is when he started his farming career. He also worked part-time for the county and for Cotton Beck Plumbing. After 17 years of marriage, Bonnie passed in 1967. On April 19, 1968, he married Zoleta Rogers Sellers in Gainsville, Texas. Raymond farmed for over 60 years. He worked with soil conservation on Bermuda grass, planting countless acres over Oklahoma and even Muleshoe, Texas. Raymond enjoyed Golfing and helped build the South Canadian Country Club.
 

Raymond is preceded in death by his wife of 17 years, Bonnie Puckett; his parents, William Ira and Willie B. Ellis; (4) four brothers; Howard, D.O., Harold, and Sidney.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Zoleta, of the home; son, Gary Ellis and wife, Lynn of Aurora, Colorado; daughter, Linda Ellis of Norman; son, Doug Sellers, and wife Cathy of Owasso; daughter, Angela Sellers of Purcell; sister, Jean Greene;  (7) Seven grandchildren; Jerry Ellis of Oklahoma City, Ryan Morris and wife, Amanda of Wayne, Sadie Short of San Diego, California, Jodie Ellis of Aurora, Colorado, Jamison Short of Norman, Kelsey Robertson and husband, Lee of Owasso; (5) Five great-grandchildren; Colby Ellis of Yukon, Adelyn Morris of Wayne, Raylan Morris of Wayne, Landon Santillan of Owasso, and Mason Santillan of Owasso, and many other relatives and friends.
