Bessie was born to Jefferson D. and Nancy Champion on April 7, 1920 in the Goins Community west of Purcell. She attended Purcell schools where she met Orel T. Wall. They were married June of 1937. They had 3 children, Ralph (Uncle Ralph), Alfred Dale and Linda Wall Edge. During WWII, she worked at the McDonald Douglas Aircraft plant, which is now Tinker Air Force Base, as a Rosie the Riveter. Bessie also drove a semi, delivering freight for Long Motor Freight Lines, but enjoyed working as a waitress the most. She worked in many cafe's over the years, and loved the meeting and interacting with the people that it provided. She loved gardening both flowers and vegetables, and enjoyed giving some of the fruits of her labor away to family and friends. We all loved going to her house in the summer for all the fresh foods and the pretty flowers. She was most famous for her peach cobbler, a special favorite at the Main Street meetings when her daughter, Linda, helped prepare lunch for the meetings at the McClain Bank. It was also a family favorite. O.T. Wall passed in 1983, and in 1988 Bessie married Troyce Edwards.

Bessie is preceded in death by her first husband, O.T. Wall; her daughter, Linda Edge; parents, JD and Nancy Champion; half sisters, Willie Jeter and husband, William, Mattie Beam and husband, George, Minnie Champion and husband, H.J.; half brother, TB Champion and wife, Theo.

Survivors include her sons, Ralph and wife, Clarica of Purcell, Dale and wife, Carolyne of Bridgecreek; grandchildren, Carole Edge Matthews of Katy, Texas, Jeff Edge and wife, Kristie of The Woodlands, Texas, Mike Edge and wife, Amy of Aurora, Colorado, Brian Wall and wife, Kathy of Bridgecreek, Adrianne Setofby of Ada, Theresa Wall Piazza and husband, Dan of Purcell.
