Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at Wadley’s Funeral Chapel with Pastor Louis Bennett officiating.
Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, entrusted to the care of Wadley’s Funeral Service.
Joy was born on May 1, 1931 in Tribbey, Oklahoma to Andrew and Elizabeth (Bennett) Carr. She was raised and attended school in the Lexington area. On July 14, 1951, Joy married Huston Colwell in Vernon, Texas. Joy loved spending time with her family, playing with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, cooking Sunday dinners, and visiting with family and friends. She also enjoyed playing Bingo, going to the casino, and going to church.Survivors include her sons; Rickey Colwell and wife, Jan, Robert Colwell; daughter, Verna Hernandez and husband, Pablo; grandchildren, Shannan Shaw and husband, Kyle, Paula (PJ) Hernandez, Pablo Hernandez, Jr. and wife, Samantha, Derick Colwell and wife, Erin, Josh Colwell, April Colwell and Courtney Colwell, Brittany Cooksey and husband, Cody, Sherry Watkins Darty, Sonya Watkins Hagans and husband, Jim; great grandchildren, Cadyn Hernandez, Taizen Hernandez, Teagan Hernandez, Hunter Shaw, Gabrielle Colwell, Landon Wells Colwell, Kamlynn Cooksey, Silas Cooksey, Fabian Hill, Kathryn Hagans, Casey Hagans; sister, Kay Daughterty; sisters-in-law, Virginia Huddleston, Alice Carr; aunts, Flossy Bishop, Naomie Mitchell; along with many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
