She was born Feb. 15, 1926 in Gould, OK. She was one of eight children born to Richard Lewis and Marie “Robertson” Lewis. Honey grew up in Purcell and graduated from Purcell High School in 1944. She later married the love of her life, a neighbor boy by the name of Guy Cecil Colwell. They were married on August 6, 1943 in Purcell. Together Elva Louise and Guy raised four children, James, Marsha, Carol and Pam. She worked tirelessly as a homemaker attending to and caring for her family. Because of Guy’s job, her family moved several times over the past 70 years. They first lived in Purcell nine years, then in Norman ten years, Collinsville for five years, Chanute, KS for ten years and then in 1982 Guy retired. That same year they built a retirement home on Grand Lake and lived there for many years. After Guy passed away, Honey later moved to Owasso, OK to be close to her children and grandchildren. Honey loved being outdoors and spending time in her vegetable and flower garden. For many years she was a member of the Easter Star. She will be remembered as a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
