Raymond Ray Cobb, age 78, of Purcell, departed this life on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born August 31, 1939 in Purcell, OK. He was the 2nd child of four children born to Virgil Leroy Cobb and Virgie (Ingram) Cobb. Raymond grew up in the Purcell area, first attending the Goins Elementary and later Purcell High School, graduating in 1957. After high school he went to work for James Engdahl, framing houses. In 1960, he started working for Western Electric in Oklahoma City.
On May 21, 1960, Raymond married the love of his life, Joyce Harmon. They were married at the First Assembly of God Church in Maysville. They made their home in Moore until 1971. At that time they moved to Purcell to raise their family, daughter, Renee and son, Ted.
From 1984 to 1993, Raymond and his son, Ted, together owned and operated a trucking business called T & R Trucking in Purcell. During this time, Raymond continued working in OKC for the same company, now called Lucent Technology. He retired in 1997.
Raymond’s greatest joy in life was his family. After he retired, he and
Joyce did some traveling, but he really, just liked staying home. In his later
years,
Raymond enjoyed drinking coffee with his buddies.
He was preceded in death by:
Wife, Joyce Cobb on March 15, 2011,
Parents, Virgil and Virgie Cobb,
Brother, Roy Cobb,
Infant sister,
2 Sister-in-laws, Trisha Harmon and Wanda Winans,
Brother-in-law, Sonny Harmon,
Nephew, Scott Springfield;
He is survived by:
Daughter, Renee Doyle and husband Brett of Caddo, OK.
Son, Ted Cobb of Purcell,
Grandson, Brett Colby Doyle of Caddo.
Sister, Vera Hailey of MWC,
Sister-in-law, Linda Couch and husband Gary of Purcell,
Several nieces and nephews and host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 P.M., Thursday, August 2, 2018 at Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel, Purcell, OK.
Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
