Wanda Fae Clagg age 84 of Purcell, formerly of Lindsay, passed away Sunday, October 23, 2016 at Purcell Municipal Hospital.
She was born October 20, 1932 at home in the Johnson School District in Purcell, Oklahoma. Wanda was the middle child of three daughters born to James Monroe Cox and Grace (Evans) Cox. Wanda grew up in Wayne and graduated from Wayne High School in 1950. One year later she married Arthur Delane Clagg on October 9, 1951. Wanda and Arthur first made their home in Purcell before moving to Lindsay in 1954. While living in Lindsay they raised three sons, Rodney, Mickey and Kevin. Wanda worked hard as a homemaker and outside of the home throughout her life. For many years she and Arthur owned and operated several different businesses including a clothes laundry, a car wash and a fabric store. In 1980 they moved to Purcell and for eight years they owned and operated the Purcell Western Auto. Then in 1988 they moved back to Lindsay and owned and operated Wanda’s Restaurant for 20 years. While living in Lindsay Wanda was very active in the City of Lindsay community affairs. She had been on the Lindsay City Council for many years, served several terms as Mayor, was on the Hospital Board, a member of the Lindsay Flying Club, a member of the First Baptist Church and taught Sunday school for many years. She was selected by Beta Sigma Phi Chapter of Lindsay as Women of the year in 1992. Her hobbies included boating, sewing, reading and working with stained glass. In 2015, Wanda moved to be close to her family in Purcell and was living at the Westbrook Gardens Assisted Living.

She is survived by: Three sons and their spouses, Rodney and Sherry Clagg of Orlando, FL, Mickey and Debbie Clagg of Norman, Kevin and Debbie Clagg of Purcell; One sister, Norma Beale of Sparks, NV. Five grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, Several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be 10:00am Thursday, October 27, 2016 at Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel in Purcell.
Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery in Purcell.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Lung Assoc. or the St. Vincent DePaul Society.
