James A. Cheek, age 82 of Purcell, passed away Saturday November 21, 2015, at the Norman Regional Healthplex. James Allan Cheek was born October 23, 1933 in Battiest, OK, the baby of 5 children born to Marvin Z. Cheek and Lena Belle (Helton) Cheek. His early childhood was marked with move after move as the family followed work while farming. He started school at Rosedale, followed by Purcell, and eventually the family moved to Oregon. James later returned home to McClain County and married his best friend and life partner, Eudene Clifton, on January 6, 1951. They purchased a farm near Purcell and have called it home ever since. Together they raised 3 sons, Ricky, Larry and Terry. James worked as a carpenter, building and constructing homes throughout Central Oklahoma. He was really a jack-of-all-trades and could build anything with wood. He was a family man first and his heart was always at the farm. He loved his farm life and especially his cattle. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and a true friend. He will be dearly missed!

He was preceded in death by: His parents, Marvin and Lena Cheek; His brother, Edgar Cheek and 2 sisters, Ruby Burch and Vedus Sweeney.

James leaves behind: His wife, Eudene of the home; His sons, Ricky Cheek and wife Katricia of Purcell, OK; Larry Cheek and wife Debbie of Lexington, OK and Terry Cheek and wife Cathy of Duncan, OK. Brother, Dale Cheek of Albany, OR; 2 granddaughters, Tennille Covey and husband Justin of Norman, OK and Michelle Gosney and husband Brian of Fairview, OK; 3 great granddaughters, Cesily and Taylor Covey and Laynie Gosney and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 25, 2015, at the Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at the Hillside Cemetery. Arrangements by Wilson-Little Funeral Home of Purcell. Send online condolences at wilsonlittle.com
