Jean Carleton was born June 29, 1929 and passed away December 12, 2020. Jean was raised in Apache, Oklahoma by her parents Florence and L.L. Dunlop. After graduating from high school, she attended Cameron University, then Oklahoma A & M where she graduated with a degree in Home Economics. Her first teaching job was in Lindsay, where she met her future husband, Kenneth. They married and started their family. After having two children they moved to Stillwell where Jean stayed at home to take care of her family. They later moved to Purcell. Jean’s most important job was taking care of her family. She was a wonderful wife and mother and loved making her home a special place. She was a great seamstress, kept her house spotless and was a fabulous cook. Holidays were highly anticipated at her house because of the great food she cooked. She enjoyed being a part of the First Baptist Church and was involved with her Sunday School Class and the clothes closet, even after she stopped driving. Many friends made sure that she had a ride to everywhere she needed to go. One of the things she enjoyed most was traveling. She and Ken took many, many trips with Dorothy and Jerry Potter to countries all over the world. Her detailed trip diaries document all of their travels.
