Kathy Capps, age 74 of Wayne, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2014 in Oklahoma City. She was born February 27, 1940 in Purcell. She was the 3rd of four children born to Louis Albert Baker and Mary Ellen (Jones) Baker. Kathy grew up living and going to school in three different communities, Whitebead, OKC and later Wayne where she graduated from high school with the class of 1958. One year later she married the love of her life, Ted Capps. They were married on August 1, 1959 in Noble. They made their first home in Purcell, before moving to Norman and later to Wayne. Kathy worked as a waitress at Ruby’s restaurant in Purcell in the early 1960’s. After moving to Norman she was a waitress at the Holiday Inn before going to work at the John Roberts Ring Factory. In 1964 she and Ted moved to Wayne and in 1965 she attended the Ada Beauty School to become a Beautician. For nearly 30 years she owned and operated Kathy’s Beauty Salon out of her home in Wayne. She was a wonderful homemaker and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Throughout her life she enjoyed bird watching, gardening, camping, fishing and traveling with Ted. Kathy was a faithful member of the Wayne United Methodist Church.
She is preceded in death by: Parents: Louis and Ellen Baker, Three brothers: Billy Ray Baker, Walter Baker and Melvin Baker,
She is survived by: Husband: Ted of the home, Son: Mark Capps and fiancé Tuesday of Wayne, Daughter: Lisa Flowers and fiancé Mark of Purcell, Two grandchildren: Bridget and Dalton Flowers, Three sisters-in-law: Wilma, Dorine and Lorine.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Thursday, March 13, 2014 at the Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel in Purcell. Burial will follow at the Hillside Cemetery in Purcell.
