Jimmie L. Brown, age 73 of Purcell, passed away Monday, January 19, 2015, at the Purcell Municipal Hospital. Jim was born September 15, 1941 in Oklahoma City, OK, the youngest of 8 children born to William Hardy Brown and Barbara Ann (Scott) Brown. He spent his early childhood in OKC, and a few years in Pawnee, before returning to OKC, where he graduated in 1959. Jim attended the Central State University for a couple of years, and he began working for the Rainbow Company. In 1959, he married Patricia McDugle, and to this union, 4 children were born, sons, Jimmie DeWayne and Billy and daughters, Christine and Cynthia. Jim then took a job with the Burford Company in Maysville where he worked for more than 20 years. He also worked for Hurry Clean for a few years. Jim later married Bette Rae Farbro in 1976 and they made their home in Purcell. He retired from Reel-O-Matic in 2010. Jim was a hard worker and a great provider. He cherished his family and especially his grandkids. He loved spending time outdoors and he loved spending time watching his grandkids. He never missed an opportunity to watch them play sports. He will be dearly missed!
He was preceded in death by: His wife, Bette Rae Brown; His parents, Hardy and Annie Brown; Son, Jimmie DeWayne Brown; His siblings, L.Lorene Burns, Arlon Louis Brown, Buford Lee Brown, William “Troy” Brown, Emma “Inez” Tidmore, Veta Mae Brown and Charlene Ryburn Myrick and Her great nephew, Kyle Eldon Foraker.
Jim leaves behind: His children, Billy Brown and Suzanne of Shawnee, Christine Hunter-Brown and Dondi of OKC, Cynthia Brown of Wylie, TX and Rhonda Roy of Purcell; 8 grandchildren, Melissa Putman and husband Travis, Tyson Brown, Blair Brown, Tucker Brown, Brayle Brown, Sylvia Brown, Kenny Brown and Joseph Brown; 2 great grandchildren, Ethan and Addison Putman; Numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Friday, January 23, 2014, at the Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at the Hillside Cemetery
