Stephen Boudreau, an old time citizen of Purcell died at his home on Saturday morning, 06 September, after a long and severe illness which had kept him in his bed for a number of weeks.

Mr. Boudreau suffered during the last few eeks of his life, his troube being some affliction of the stomach so he could take very little nourishment. In spite of all care, he succumbed after a hard fight.

Stephen was born on 20 March 1856 in Illinois and died at the age of 68 years, 5 months and 16 days. He grew to manhood in Illionis. His family later moved to Kansas and then came to Oklahoma in 1892 where they settled at Purcell.

After coming to Purcell he started working for Mr. Blanchard at the Blachard store where he worked as a clerk for a number of years. Later he took up a trade as a carpenter, which he followed until he became too feeble for active work.

Stephen married Miss Josephine Boudreau in Illinois. They had nine children. Mrs. Joe (Anna Josephine) Marquis, Mrs. John (Designe Domatilla) Price, Mrs. Chas. (Marie Denise) Anhalt, Mrs. Ernest (Alma Eudore Marie) Knox, Mrs. J.O. (Denia Marie) Lewis, Mrs. Carl (Cecelia) Garrett, Emile Boudreau, Leo Boudreau and Louis Boudreau. His wife, Josephine, also survives him.

In the death of Mr. Boudreau, Purcell lost one of the pioneers of the town and a good citizen. He was a member of the Catholic church. The Register joins with his many friends in extending its sympathy to the vereaved members of the family and other relatives.

Funeral services were held at the Catholic church on Monday morning by Rev. Father Dieltens. A large concourse of friends attended the service. Interment was made in Hillside Cemetery.

Stroke Is Fatal To Mrs. Boudreau - Last Rites Are Conducted At Catholic Church For Mother of Nine

Mrs. Boudreau died Saturday, 14 Oct 1939, following a stroke at the home of her sister, Mrs. Delima Cardinal.

Josephine was born on 29 Oct 1860 in Illinois. She and Stephen Boudreau were married on 14 January 1879. They moved from Illinois to Kanas and later came to Oklahoma, arriving here in 1891. For many years Stephen was a well known Purcell carpenter. He passed away in September of 1924.

All but one of her nine children were able to attend the last rites. Requiem mass was said Monday morning at Our Lady of Victory church by pastor Father Louis Hugh. She was buried in Hillside Cemetery.

Mrs. Annie Marquis, Emile Boudreau, both of Purcell were here. Mrs. John Price of Fairfax; Mrs. Chas Anhalt of Norman; Mrs. Denna Lewis of Oklahoma City, Leo Boudreau of Hominy; Mrs. Cecelia Garrett, Cushing; and Louis Boudreau, Arkansas City, Kansas were here also. Mrs. Alma Knox of Carlisle, Pa was not able to reach here in time.

Her sister, Mrs. Cardinal along with two brothers, Louis (Jude) Boudreau of Purcell and Alex of Oklahoma City, also survive along with 25 grandchildren.

Serving as pallbears were Dolphus Dumas, Eldon Dumas, Frank Hesse, Will Hesse, Louis Groothouse and Ed Price.
