Wanda Barnes, age 81 of Purcell, passed away Wednesday, February 11, 2015. Wanda Faye Cavnar was born June 2, 1933 in Purcell, OK, 1 of 10 children born to James Thomas and Nora (Skaggs) Cavnar. She spent her early childhood in Purcell where she began school. She then attended Jones High School, graduating in 1951. On September 25, 1953, Oklahoma City, Wanda married her best friend and love of her life, Mr. Truman Barnes. They made their home in Boise City for a short time before moving to Waukomis, OK where they raised their family, daughter, Robin and sons, Coen and Ryan. Wanda worked in health care for few years, and then later began working for S&H Green Stamps in Enid. She retired after more than 20 years of dedicated service. Wanda was wonderful wife and mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and a true friend. In 2010, she and Truman moved to Purcell to be closer to their family. During this time, she was a member of the First Baptist Church in Washington. She will be dearly missed!

She was preceded in death by: Her daughter, Robin Barnes; Grandson, Clint Barnes; Her parents, James and Nora Cavnar and 4 brothers, James, Elmo, Kenneth and Edgar.

Wanda leaves behind: Her husband, Truman of the home; Sons, Coen Barnes and wife Susan of Washington and Ryan Barnes of Leander, TX; Her brother, Willis Gene Cavnar of Newalla; 4 sisters, Theo Mayo and husband David of Midwest City, Juanita Woods of Shawnee, Shirley Teal of Midwest City and Francis Bragg of Norman; 9 Grandchildren, Lance Barnes and wife Keri, Chase Barnes, Brittaney Jones and husband Quincy, All of Washington; Devin Kyle of Alva, OK; Blayke Kyle of Washington; Channa Barnes, Talee Barnes, Keegan Barnes and Jerzie Barnes, all of Leader, TX; Several Nieces and Nephews, and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Monday, February 16, 2015, at the First Baptist Church in Washington. Burial will follow at the Hillside Cemetery

Truman Henry Barnes, age 89 of Purcell, passed away in his home on Thursday, January 24, 2019.

Truman was born December 14, 1929 in Boise City, OK. He was the third of five children born to John Henry and Bertha (Reeve) Barnes. He spent his school years in Boise City and two years in the army stationed at Fort Sill in Lawton, OK. On September 25, 1953 he married Wanda Faye Cavnar. They made their home in Boise City where three children were born, Coen, Robin and Ryan. The family moved to Waukomis, OK in 1970 where Truman pursued a math degree while working as a rural letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. Truman retired after 35 years with the Postal Service and began a new career teaching high school math. He taught at Hennessey, Chisholm and Oklahoma Bible Academy for 25 years and retired again at the age of 80. In 2010, Truman and Wanda moved to Purcell to be close to family. Truman was a faithful husband, committed father, helpful grandfather and proud great-grandfather. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Washington, OK.

He was preceded in death by: His wife – Wanda Daughter – Robin Barnes Grandson – Clint Barnes Parents – John and Bertha Barnes Sister – Lois Burton Brothers – Walter, Kenneth and Roger Barnes

Truman leaves behind: Sons – Coen Barnes and wife Susan of Washington Ryan Barnes and wife Jennifer of Leander, TX Grandchildren – Lance Barnes and wife Keri of Washington Chase Barnes of Washington Brittaney Jones and husband Quincy of Canton, OH Devin Kyle of McAlester, OK Blayke Kyle of WashingtonChanna Barnes, Talee Barnes, Keegan Barnes, and Jerzie Barnes all of Leander, TX. Seven great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and a plethora of family and friends.

Memorials may be made to the Clint Barnes Benevolence Fund % of Washington First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 86, Washington, OK, 73093.

The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 P.M. Sunday at Wilson-Little Funeral Home.
