Robin Barnes, age 55 of Norman, passed away Sunday, October 13, 2013, at the Norman Regional Hospital. Robin Elaine Barnes was born April 30, 1958 in Boise City, OK. Robin accepted Christ as her Savior when she was a young girl, was active in GA’s and played piano for church services as a teenager. Robin attended school in Boise City, and later at Waukomis, OK when the family moved there. Robin was multitalented. She played flute in the High School Band, was a cheerleader, and was a varsity basketball player. Robin was a fierce competitor. You might beat her, but she would never give in nor give up. After graduation from WHS, Robin attended Oklahoma State University, and for the rest of her life, was a rabid OSU Cowboy fan. Robin was married and divorced twice, but while being treated for depression in Norman, she met her companion, Hal Bassett, and they made their home in Norman. About Robin, Hal says, “Robin was a loving, caring companion whose smile brought warmth to my heart. She loved the Lord and always knew she would be with Him after this life. She cared unconditionally and selflessly for others. Her passions were her family and friends, listening to Gospel music, growing her beautiful flower garden and her pets, Daisy, Bentley and Kitty.” Robin loved the outdoors, the sun and water. She devoted the last years of her life to beautifying her home and tending to her flowers. And if there are flowers in heaven, she is probably tending to those. A quote from In Memoriam by Milne captures her essence. “Undaunted by the clouds of fear, Undazzled by a happy day, She made a Heaven about her here. And took how much! With her away.”

She leaves behind Her parents, Truman and Wanda Barnes; Three children, Brittaney Jones, Devin Kyle and Blayke Kyle; Two brothers, Coen Barnes and Ryan Barnes; Two granddaughters, Kiara and Paisley Kyle; Her companion, Hal Bassett and Numerous cousins, aunts, and uncles.

Graveside Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Friday, October 18, 2013, at the Hillside Cemetery in Purcell. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wilson-Little Funeral Home of Purcell.
