Raymond Bacon, age 92 of Purcell, passed away Wednesday, December 03, 2014.

He was born May 31, 1922 in Criner, OK, 1 of 8 children born to James Ludwell Bacon and Mary Elizabeth (Hayes) Bacon. He grew up west of Purcell and attended school in the Fairview Community. Raymond joined the United States Navy and served his country proudly during World War II. On May 23, 1944, Raymond married his best friend and true love, Iva Pearl Maynard. They first made their home in Dibble where Iva taught school for several years at the Fairview Community School SW of Purcell. A few years later they moved east of Woody Chapel in the Washington Community where they raised their 3 children, daughter, Delyorce and sons, Charles and Ralph. Raymond worked for a door factory and also as a farmer when he could, before taking a job at the Bell Telephone Company, a career that spanned for 30 years. In 1974 they moved to Poteau for four years, later settling in Enid in 1978. After retiring from Bell Telephone, Raymond become a master cabinet builder and remained so until retiring again, at the age of 84. Due to failing health, they returned back home to Purcell in 2010, to be closer to family. Iva and Raymond were charter members at Union Hill Baptist Church west of Purcell. While living in Enid they attended the Trinity Baptist Church. Raymond cherished Iva and his family and he truly loved his work. He will be dearly missed!

He was preceded in death by: His wife, Iva P. Bacon; Son, Charles Bacon; His parents, James and Mary Bacon; 2 sisters, Cora Roper and Bessie Lynn and 4 brothers, Parks, Barney, Robert and B.H. Bacon.

Raymond leaves behind: His Daughter, Delyorce Rebouche of Cedar Falls, Iowa; Son, Ralph Bacon of Owasso, OK; 5 grandchildren; Ray Rebouche, Frances Wilson and husband Eric, Dawn Eyler and husband Monty, Dale Bacon and wife Kristi and Denise Dunaway and husband Bill; 8 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Saturday, December 6, 2014, at the Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will follow at the Hillside Cemetery
