Iva P. Bacon age 90 of Purcell, passed away Monday July 9, 2012 at Purcell Municipal Hospital.

She was born on January 5, 1922 in Leslie, Arkansas. She was the 5th child of seven children born to Benjamin Andrew Maynard and Famie Viola (Reeves) Maynard. When Iva was one year old her family moved from Arkansas in a covered wagon and settled in the Washington community. Iva attended the Washington Schools graduating with the class of 1940. She attended Central State University and later East Central University where she earned her BA degree in Education. On May 23, 1944, Iva married the love of her life, Raymond Bacon. They made their first home in Dibble and Iva taught school for several years at the Fairview Community School SW of Purcell. A few years later they moved West of Woody Chapel in the Washington Community where they raised their children and lived 22 years. In 1974 they moved and lived in Poteau for four years. Then in 1978 they moved to Enid where they lived for 33years. Because of her failing health they moved back to Purcell in 2011, to be close to their family. Iva and Raymond were charter members at Union Hill Baptist Church west of Purcell. While living in Enid they attended the Trinity Baptist Church. Throughout her life, Iva enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening and cooking. She especially loved to cook for her children and grandchildren. She will be remembered as a loving wife and mother, a wonderful grandmother and a special sister and aunt.

She was preceded in death by: Parents: Andy and Famie Maynard Two brothers: Joe and Lester Maynard Two sisters: Dola Buchanan and Dova Modesto A Daughter-in-law: Peggy Bacon

She is survived by: Husband of 68 years: Raymond Bacon of Purcell One daughter: Delyorce Rebouche of Cedar Falls, Iowa Two sons: Charles Bacon of Purcell Ralph Bacon and wife Margaret of Owasso, OK Two sisters: Velda Langford and husband Bennie of Tuscaloosa, AL Clessie Crowley of OKC Five grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren Many nieces and nephews and friends

Funeral services will be 10:00 am Thursday, July 12, 2012 at Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel in Purcell.

Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery in Purcell.
