Ida Lou Arms, age 90 of Goldsby, passed away Friday, March 22, 2019.
Ida Lou Summers was born April 8, 1928 in Roff, Oklahoma, the 8th of 9 children born to Daniel S. Summers and Bertha Ellen (McGee) Summers. Ida married young, to a young man named Paul Arms. They made their home in California where together they raised two children; son, Larry Dale and daughter, P Kay. After a little more than 25 years living in the Golden State, Paul and Ida returned back home to Oklahoma, making their home in Norman, before settling in Goldsby in 1982. Ida worked as a waitress for a time, both at “Pop Perry” and later at the “City Café” in Purcell. She also worked as a housekeeper for the State of Oklahoma, retiring after more than 20 years. Ida was a hardworking, simple woman, who enjoyed the simple things of everyday. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening and was an excellent cook. She was crafty and a gifted painter, sharing many of her works with family and friends. Ida Lou was an avid reader and never missed an opportunity to curl up with a good book. Life for her changed some 10 years ago, with the diagnosis of Macular Degeneration. And with her eyesight, it took away her ability to do the things she loved most. She was a woman of great faith and a longtime member of the Goldsby Baptist Church. She will be dearly missed!
