Donald Arms, age 76, of Oklahoma City, passed away on October 20, 2023.
Donald Ray Arms was born on May 28, 1947 in Concord, California, the youngest of six children born to Ernest Howard Arms and Myrtle Leon (Southworth) Arms.
When Donny was just a few months old, the Arms family moved from California to Oklahoma, where they made their home in the Purcell area. He attended primary school and graduated with the Dragon Class of 1965.
Immediately after graduating high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. Donny served his country honorably and faithfully for four years as an Air Police overseas.
After his time in the Air Force, he had several odd jobs before finding his true passion working as a machinist at Tinker Air Force Base. He was truly passionate about his career and took great pride in what he did. Donny was employed at Tinker for over forty years before retiring in January, earlier this year, at 75 years old.
When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed reading books and watching DVD’s- mainly science fiction. He was very loving and caring in nature. He truly believed that family should always take care of family, and he did just that. He was the primary caretaker for his mother, Myrtle, and he did so tenderly and lovingly for several years. Donny was a quiet person, but he was always there when you needed him. He was always happy to lend a helping hand to anyone and everyone. Donny was also a family man, and he truly cherished every moment spent with them. He will be dearly missed!
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Ernest and Myrtle Arms; sisters, Velva Arms and Barbara McClain; brothers, Ernest Howard Arms Jr. and John Nicklas Arms “Bumpy”; niece, Mary Gates and nephew, Bennie Unsell.
Donny is survived by: his brother, Bobby Joe Arms and wife Linda of Norman; niece, Donna Gates of Guthrie, as well as several other nieces and nephews, lots of cousins, and lifelong friends.
Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at Hillside Cemetery in Purcell. www.wilsonlittle.com
