The Purcell Register
Thursday, February 14, 1918
Submitted by: Susan Gabel

Mrs. Regina Anhalt, wife of Mr. G.F. Anhalt, passed away Friday night at 11 o'clock, February 8th, 1918, at the family home, six miles west of Purcell, following an illness that covered two years and was due to a complication of diseases, co-incident with old age. The funeral services were held Monday morning at 10:30 o'clock from the Catholic church, Rev. Father Van Wees officiating. Interment was made in the Hillside cemetery. The floral offerings were beautiful, many beautiful wreaths being contributed by the many friends and lodges. The funeral services were very impressive, Father Van Wees touching very feelingly upon the passing of this good woman, whose end came as a fitting close to a long life of usefulness and good deeds. A requiem was sung by the school children.
Mr. P.E. Herman, of Fort Worth, grandson of the deceased came to attend the funeral. Relatives in Iowa, Mr. Lewis Anhalt of Waverly and Mrs. Valentine Herman of Waverly, Iowa and Miss Christina Anhalt of Peostea, Iowa, were unable to be present due to heavy snows in the north, which made it impossible for them to arrive in time.
The pall bearers were of the Order of Forresters, Messrs. Robert Schuman, John Kress, Louis Tarp, Louis Boudreau, Paul Boudreau, John E. Price.
The deceased was born in Buelstead, ____ province, Germany, on January 4, 1841. In 1865 she was united in marriage with Mr. George F. Anhalt and to this union eleven children were born, six sons and five daughters, eight of whom with the father remain to mourn the loss of a faithful and loving mother and wife. The sons surviving are Carl, J. of Purcell, Val, farmer near Washington, and Frank at home. Louis of Waverly, Iowa and the three daughters, Mrs. Leopold Ille, of Lexington, Mrs. Valentine Herman of Waverly, Iowa and Miss Christiana Anhalt of Peostea, Iowa.
The Register with the many friends of the family extend a sincere word of condolence to the bereaved family in their loss.
