Funeral services for Carl J. Anhalt were conducted Saturday morning, January 21, 1950 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Norman. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery in Purcell.
"Charley" as he was known to his Purcell friends, died Thursday afternoon, January 19 at the age of 80 in Norman following an illness of three months. He had moved from Purcell to Norman about 30 years ago.
He came with his parents to this country when he was 13 years of age. In 1887, they moved to Lexington and came to Purcell in 1890. He worked as a butcher for years in the Crawford Meat market here and also as a butcher after he moved to Norman. He had been retired for a number of years.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Marie Anhalt, of the home ; four sons, Paul and Dr. James Anhalt, both of Los Angeles, Calif.; Louis Anhalt, Glendale, Calif; Carl Anhalt, Oklahoma City; five daughters, Mrs. John Holland and Mrs. H.M. Sanford, both of Perryton, Tex.; Mrs. Robert Katigan, Oklahoma City; Mrs. Paul Hanson, Los Angeles; and Mrs. Kenneth Fry, Billings, Okla. He is also survived by three brothers, Val and Frank Anhalt, both of Purcell; and Louis Anhalt, Waverly, Iowa; and one sister, Miss Christine Anhalt, also of Waverly; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Bill Creveling, Norman; Mrs. Louis P. Choteau, Ponca City; and one stepson, Howard Gredell, Whittier, Calif.
