F.E. “Corky” Anderson, age 86 of Purcell, passed away
Wednesday, November 01, 2017.
Francis Eugene Anderson was born July 3,
1931 in Purcell, Oklahoma, the 2nd of 4 children born to Francis Miller
Anderson and Laura Ruth (McClure) Anderson. He was raised in Wayne and
attended school there. While in high school, Corky answered the call to
serve his country, and joined the United States Air Force. He was a
proud patriot and he loved his country. Corky married young, and to this
union, 3 children, sons, Ronald Gene and Francis Richard and daughter,
Becky were born. Corky raised his family in the Del City, Midwest City
area. He began a career with the FAA that spanned more than 30 years,
later retiring as a Research Engineer. Corky longed to move back home
and eventually settled in Purcell. He later met Martha Jo Anderson, and
they skipped down to Gainesville, TX and were married on September 26,
1996. Corky loved his community greatly and served in many capacities.
He served both as Mayor, and on the City Council. He was a member of the
Rotary Club, serving as President and Sergeant of Arms. When not
working, Corky liked tinkering on things. He was a man of strong faith
and a member of the First Baptist Church of Purcell. He will be dearly
missed!
He was preceded in death by: His sons, Ronald Gene Anderson and Francis Richard Anderson; His parents, Francis Miller and Laura Ruth Anderson; Sister, Johnnie Ruth Fielder and Brother, Bobby Joe Anderson Grandson, Charles Francis Anderson Brother-in-law, Clarence Fielder
Corky is survived by: His wife, Jo Anderson of the home; Daughter, Becky Deaton of Plano, TX; Brother, James “Red” Anderson and wife Betty of Norman; Grandchildren, Chad Deaton, Plano, TX Brittney Francis and husband, Zack, Texas Bethany Deaton, Plano, TX Jimmy Anderson, Oklahoma City, OK Step-daughter, Candi Anderson, Organ Step-granddaughter, Kelsi Jennen, Norman, OK Sister-in-law, Myra Anderson, Norman, OK And a host of other family and friends.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Saturday, November 4, 2017, at the Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will follow at the Hillside Cemetery.
