Olen Lee Keeler, 90, of Dibble, died Tuesday, September 1, 2015, at the Purcell Municipal Hospital.
Olen was born to the late Shelby and Nina (Bearden) Keeler, on May 28, 1925, in Criner, OK. He attended school at Criner and Dibble, before serving in the Army from 1944 to 1946. After training in California, he went to Okinawa, Iwo Jima and Saipan. When he returned from his service, he married, Maxine Thornton, on May 29, 1947. They enjoyed 62 years of marriage before her death in December 2009. Olen worked at Tinker Field for over 10 years while starting his dairy and farming operation. He and Maxine worked long hours running and building his farming operation but they always made time for family, friends and neighbors. He was selfless in serving Dibble Schools and the community. He was on the Dibble School Board for many years, as a member and then president of the board. He also served on board for the McClain County Farm Bureau for several years. Olen enjoyed life and was known for his sense of humor and respected for his hard work and devotion to family and friends.
Olen is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Maxine, and two brothers, Donald Keeler and Douglas Keeler.
Olen is survived by brother, Kenneth Keeler and his wife, Vickie; and four children: Gerry of Dibble, Eddie and wife Mary Ann of Dibble, Joyce and husband Monte Sills of Colorado, Phyllis and husband Mike Schmit of Norman. He is survived by four grand-children: Amy Keeler, Keri and husband Todd Sparks, Derek Parks and Garrett Sills. Olen dearly loved and will be missed by all, especially by his five great-grandchildren: Taylor, Casey, Kassidy, Ty and Harleigh.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Dibble Free Will Baptist Church or Dibble Schools.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Saturday, September 5, 2015 at the Dibble Free Will Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Dibble Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard.
