Services Saturday, October 11, 9:30, AM at the Dibble Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Don Smith officiating, assisted by the Rev. Lewis Cox.
Alma was born October 30, 1919, near Banner, Oklahoma, to Allen Frank and Lillie Spivey Slate. She continued to live in the Criner, Banner and Dare area while growing up, graduating from Dibble High School in 1938.
She married Aubrey Eugene York, also of Dibble, on January 7, 1939, in Purcell.
Alma and Aubrey operated York's General Store and gas station in Dibble.
Aubrey preceded Alma in death, passing away in 1963.
Alma and two of her children continued to live in Dibble and run the store until 1972. When she retired from the grocery store business she worked for about ten years for the C. R. Anthony Company, Chickasha, as a sales clerk.
Alma loved the Dibble community and lent her support to numerous community activities. In her early years she served on the election board and kept the records for the Dibble Cemetery for over twenty years.
She was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church of Dibble. She often played piano, sang solos and sang with the choir.
Alma's favorite activity was spending time with her family, not only her children, but her many Spivey and Tannehill aunts, uncles and cousins.
She will be remembered as a friendly, loving woman by all who knew her.
