Julia "Agnes" Sparks was born June 22, 1915 in Mill Creek, OK to Robert and Julia Brashear.

Her family moved to Pueblo, CO when she was very young and then to Electra, TX where she graduated with the class of 1932. Her family then moved to the Valley View area in rural Grady County, Oklahoma. On January 5, 1936, she married Jess "Willard" Sparks , and they have lived in the Dibble area since that time. She died Saturday, December 30, 2006 at her home in Dibble at the age of 91 years. Services will be held at the Dibble Free Will Baptist Church Tuesday, January 2, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Mrs. Sparks was well known for her sewing skills, and her fried apricot pies and apricot cobbler. She was a devoted wife and mother, and an excellent teacher of life to her children and grandchildren. She loved to read and passed that love on to her family. She had read the Bible cover to cover at least four times. Mrs. Sparks was along time member of the Dibble Free Will Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of almost 71 years, Willard of the home in Dibble; sons, Roy and his wife Leda of Chickasha and Glen and his wife Betty of Dibble; daughters, Frances Sparks -Fuller and husband Grady of Kennedale, TX and Bertha Goggin and husband Darrell of Midwest City, OK, three daughters-in-law, Rita Sparks of Memphis, TN, Janet Sparks of Dibble and Pat Sparks of Norman; 15 grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Corrine Gibson of Cabot, AR and Clara Mae McLeod of Kemp, TX and many other loved ones and a host of friends.

Her parents, three brothers, three sisters, two infant great-grandsons, one infant daughter, Julia Anna, and three sons, Willard Robert, James and Charles preceded her in death.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Dibble Freewill Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 155, Dibble, OK 73031, or the charity of your choice.

Jess Willard Sparks died November 3, 2008 at his home in Dibble. Services will be held Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at the Dibble Free Will Baptist Church at 11 am Reverend Lewis Cox will officiate. Services are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard. Family will have visitation at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 5-7.

Mr. Sparks was born July 22, 1914 in Fox, OK to Jacob Titus and Anna (Rayburn) Sparks. At a young age his family moved to the Tabler area in rural Grady County. He attended school in the Naples area in Grady County graduating 8th grade when he started working to help his family.

He married Julia Agnes Brashear January 5, 1936 at Valley View. In 1949 they moved to the Dibble area and had resided there since that time. Mr. Sparks loved to visit with anyone, and told about hitching a ride "hobo" style, on a train with his cousin around age 13. They were only gone a couple of days before returning home.

After marriage he farmed many years, with a "team" of horses, and used his team at one point to help in the building of highway 39 in the Dibble area. In the 1940s, he worked as a milkman picking up milk from area dairies. He also worked several years as a roughneck in the oilfields around Lindsay in the 1940s. Around 1954, he went to work at Tinker Air Force Base and retired from there in 1980.

Mr. Sparks loved to play dominoes and still enjoyed playing, with a grin on his face, putting a domino down, knocking twice on the table and saying "I believe that's a dime." He served on the Dibble School Board in the 50s and 60s. He was a long time member of the Dibble Free Will Baptist Church.


He is survived by; sons Roy and his wife Leda of Chickasha, and Glen and his wife Betty of Dibble; daughters Frances Sparks-Fuller and husband Grady of Kennedale, TX, and Bertha Goggin and husband Darrell of Midwest City, OK, three daughters in law, Rita Sparks of Memphis, TN, Janet Sparks of Dibble, and Pat Sparks of Norman, 15 grandchildren, nine step grandchildren, and 29 great grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Mary Barrett of Chickasha, many nieces, nephews, and many other family members and friends.

His wife Agnes preceded him in death in December 2006 after almost 71 years of marriage. Also his parents, two brothers, two sisters, three sons, Willard Robert, James, Charles, an infant daughter, Julia Anna, and two infant great-grandsons Hunter Sparks and Carson Parker, preceded him in death.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Dibble Freewill Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 155, Dibble, OK 73031, or the charity of your choice.
