William J. “W.C.” Roath age 90, of Purcell passed away Monday, September 21, 2015, at the Sunset Estates Nursing Home in Purcell.

He was born October 23, 1924 in Dibble, Okla. He was the 6th child of seven children born to Daniel Crawford Roath and Maggie Mae (Southward) Roath. W C grew up a farm boy near Dibble and attended the Dibble schools. As a young man he learned the value of hard work by picking cotton and cutting broomcorn. At the age of 18, he married the love of his life, Lois Laverne Start. They were married on November 16, 1942 in Blanchard. That same year he was drafted into the U. S. Army and proudly served his country during WW II. WC and Lois together raised two daughters, Darlene and Glenda. They first made their home in the Lindsay and Chickasha area. For a few years he played minor league baseball for the Pauls Valley Raiders. Then in 1950’s, they moved to Dibble and he began working for the Santa Fe Railroad. WC retired in 1985 as an Engineer for the railroad after 33 ½ years of dedicated service. Throughout his life, WC enjoyed quail hunting and fishing. After he retired he stayed busy raising a vegetable garden and woodworking. He especially enjoyed making children furniture. WC loved watching baseball and was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by: Parents, Daniel and Maggie Roath; Two brothers, Roy “Hoss” Roath and Carl “Buck” Roath; Three sisters, Claudine Trout, Bill Nabors, Myrtle “Turt” Walker; One great grandson, Chris Kilpatrick;

He is survived by: Wife of nearly 73 years, Lois Roath of the home in Purcell; Two daughters, Darlene Henry and husband Lloyd of Lindsay, Glenda Kilpatrick and husband Lee of Purcell; One sister, Mary Ann Muchmore of Chickasha; 5 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandsons;

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday Sept. 23, 2015 at the Dibble Free Will Baptist Church in Dibble, Okla.

Interment will be at the Dibble Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice. Arrangements are with Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.

Lois Roath, age 93 of Purcell, passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2019, at the Norman Regional Healthplex.

Lois Lavern Start was born April 29, 1926 near Box, Oklahoma, 1 of 2 children born to Ed and Verdie Mae Start. She was raised in the Criner and Purcell area and attended Dibble Schools. Lois married her best friend and life partner, W.C. Roath on November 16, 1942 in Blanchard. That same year, W.C. was drafted into the United States Army. They lived in California for a short time before moving back home to Oklahoma, settling in the Dibble and Purcell area. Together they raised two daughters, Darlene and Glenda. Lois worked as a clerk at Central State Hospital in Norman for many years. After retirement, she spent countless hours at her "part time" job, working in W.C.'s flower gardens. Her greatest joy however was being a wife, mother and grandmother. Lois was an avid reader and loved working missing vowels puzzles. Her passion was sewing and she enjoyed sharing her gifts with family and friends. Lois was a longtime and faithful member of the Dibble Free Will Baptist Church. She will be dearly missed!

She was preceded in death by:  Her husband, W.C. Roath; Grandson, Wesley Bryan Henry; Great grandson, Chris Kilpatrick; Parents, Ed and Verdie Mae Start and Infant Brother, Earl Roath.

Lois is survived by: Her Daughters, Darlene Henry and husband Lloyd of Lindsay and Glenda Kilpatrick and husband Lee of Purcell; 4 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.

Graveside Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Thursday, August 15, 2019, at the Dibble Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to the Dibble Free Will Baptist Church in Lois's memory.
