Charles LeRoy Perkey, 79, of Dibble, died February 19, 2012 in Norman, Oklahoma. The son of Atoka Artillery (Mincher) and Charley Calvin “Doc” Perkey, he was born November 26, 1932 in Canute, Oklahoma.
Charles served our country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked for Time DC and Lee Way Freight Lines as a mechanic and supervisor for many years. Charles married Ramona Fay Thompson on March 4, 1952 in Sayre, Oklahoma. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cole, Dibble Volunteer Fire Department where he was one of the founders, VFW, and was past president of Sooner Old Timers Radio Club. He loved his children very much and was their biggest fan. He enjoyed giving rides to his great grandchildren behind the lawnmower. He was dearly loved by his family and friends and never met a stranger.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and two brothers.
Survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Fay, of the home; one son, Larry Perkey and wife, Pearline; two daughters, Tenna Garrett, and Tammi Harris; two grandsons, Larry Lloyd and his wife Misti, Justin and his wife Carole; two granddaughters, Jeanaye and Madison; six great grandchildren, and many others who called him grandpa; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Charles will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, February 23, 2012 at First Baptist Church of Cole. Reverend David Davis will officiate with interment held in the Dibble Cemetery in Dibble. Arrangements under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home in Blanchard. Ramona Fay Perkey, 85, of Blanchard, went to Heaven on Monday, March 11, 2019, in Norman. The daughter of William Thomas Thompson and Maud P. (Siniard) Thompson, she was born November 16, 1933 in Elk City, Oklahoma.
Fay was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Cole. She was a member of the Sooner Old Timer’s Radio Club and served as their secretary. Fay was also a Girl Scout Leader for many years. She was the dispatcher for the Dibble Volunteer Fire Department for 28 years. In her spare time, she enjoyed making crafts and jewelry, playing board games, and working jigsaw puzzles. Fay was a great cook and loved using her talents to feed people, whether it was family gatherings or helping someone in need. Fay’s greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles Perkey; four brothers, Olen Thompson, Alva Thompson, Cecil Thompson, and Iver Thompson.
She is survived by two daughters, Tenna Garrett and Tammi Harris; one son, Garland Larry Perkey and his wife, Pearline; four grandchildren, Larry Lloyd Perkey and his wife, Amanda, Justin Perkey and his wife, Carole, and Jeanaye Perkey, all of Blanchard, and Madison Harris and her fiancé, Christian Hicks, of Purcell; eight great grandchildren, and countless others who called her Grandma; one sister, Wanette Jackson of Oregon; two sisters-in-law, Ella Mae and Claudia; and many other loved ones and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, March 14, 2019, at the Eisenhour Funeral Home Chapel in Blanchard. Burial will follow in the Dibble Cemetery.
