Funeral service for Dormie E. Mills, 85, of Blanchard, Ok, were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, 1991 at the Freewill Baptist Church, Blanchard, Ok, with Rev. J. R. Hall, pastor officiating.
Burial followed at the
Dibble
Cemetery ,
Dibble , Ok. under the direction
of Sevier Funeral Home of Chickasha.
Dormie E. Mills was born Nov. 1, 1905 at Asher, Ok, to Archie and Sarah
Mills.
He married Zora Lee Minor on January 21, 1923 at Purcell, Ok and to this
union 7 children were born, all of whom are living except for an infant son
Eddie Lee, who passed away in 1937. Dormie farmed in Grady County from 1925
until he entered the dairy business in 1945. In 1965, he
retired and moved to the Mills family home place in
Dibble . After retirement, he served as
mayor of Dibble from 1976-86. He devoted
lots of time to community work and was instrumental in many community
accomplishments. He was a loyal member of the
Dibble Freewill Baptist Church from 1924 and served as a Deacon since
1938. Dormie lived a long and enjoyable life, always wanting to share his many
memories of his days in and around the Dibble
community.
He is survived by his wife Zora Mills of the Senior Village Nursing Home
in Blanchard, 2 sons Kenneth Mills and wife Dorothy of OKC, W.R. Mills and wife
Leora of Alex, 4 daughters Jean (Mills) Barrett and husband Harmon of Norman,
Dena (Mills) Doyle and husband Wayne of Tulsa, Wilma (Mills) Graham and husband
Elvis of Blanchard, Juanita "J.J." (Mills) Harms, widow of the late Stormy
Harms, Del City, Ok, 3 brothers Fred Mills of Lindsay, Ok, Elton Mills of
Chickasha, Alvin Mills of Blanchard, 4 sisters Velma Vinzant of Hemet, Ca, Vadys
Mimson of El Paso, Tx, Lucille Lanter of Phoenix, AZ, Faye Minor of Manteca,
Ca, 13 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
In addition to his infant son, Eddie Lee, he was preceded in death by 1 sister
Gladys Stidham in 1968.
