Verna Marie Miller, 85, of Dibble, died Saturday, January 6, 2018, in Lexington. The daughter of Homer Miller, Sr. and Virgie Quantiler (Ragsdale) Miller, she was born at home in Dibble on March 28, 1932.
Marie was a homemaker and was a member of Oakhurst Trinity Holiness Church. In her spare time, Marie enjoyed mowing the yard with a push mower and tending to her houseplants. She raised chickens and Indian Runner Ducks and was very proud of the 12 ducks she raised this past summer. Marie kept a big garden and usually raised over 100 tomato plants each year in addition to all her other vegetables. She planted 78 tomato plants just this past season and still took care of them even after she became ill. She loved going to the flea market to find a good deal and meet new people and talk about “the good old days.” She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Faye and Fern.
Marie is survived by three sisters, Vinita Jo Beam and husband, Dan, of Lindsay, Wynona Redd of Newcastle, and Lola Jean Williams of Newcastle; two brothers, Homer Miller, Jr. and Harold Miller, both of Dibble; an aunt, Opal McMaster of Muskogee; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other loved ones and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at the Eisenhour Funeral Home Chapel in Blanchard. Burial will follow in the Dibble Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard.
