Clara Elizabeth "Betty" Brinlee, 87, of Blanchard, died Wednesday, May 17, 2017, in Blanchard. The daughter of James William Plasters and Lelia Margaret (Blagg) Plasters, she was born September 1, 1929 in Oklahoma City.
She married Doyle Vernon Brinlee on April 7, 1948 in Oklahoma City and he preceded her in death in 1993. She earned a Master’s Degree in Special Education from OU and worked for 23 years as a Special Education Teacher until her retirement. Betty continued working as a substitute teacher until she was 80 years old. She was a member of the Middleberg Baptist Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, playing Bunco, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Vernon Ray Brinlee; and three brothers, James Plasters, William Plasters, and Herbert Sherrod.
She is survived by one daughter, Sherry Thompson and her husband, Charlie, of Blanchard; one son, Larry Brinlee and his wife, Vickie, of Edmond; seven grandchildren, Lori Love and her husband, Alex, of Edmond, Jeff Brinlee and his wife, Hilary, of Edmond, Emily Brumley of Blanchard, Amanda Kamau of Texas, Becky Vine and her husband, Derek, of Quebec, Canada, Daniel Brinlee of Texas, and Jenny Kyser and her husband, David, of Blanchard; sixteen great grandchildren; two brothers, David Plasters, and his wife, Carolyn, of Sulphur and Earl Sherrod and his wife, Dorothy, of Tuttle; several nieces and nephews; and many other loved ones and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, May 20, 2017, at the Eisenhour Funeral Home Chapel in Blanchard. Burial will follow in the Dibble Cemetery.
