Alta Mae (Simer) Bewley was born in Newcastle, Oklahoma on May 6, 1938, to James Lewis Simer and Dollie Dimple (Bess) Simer. She went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 5, 2020, at 12:28 am.
She married Jerry Bewley, Sr. on September 21, 1966, and together, they had one child, Jerry “Jay” Bewley, Jr.
She was preceded in death by her father, James “Ted” Simer and her mother, Dollie “Granny” Simer ; one brother, J.L. “Uncle Bud” Simer, and five sisters, Patricia June Simer, LeoLoretta “Tootsie” Simer, JoAnn Simer, Jimmie Stevens, and Inez McKinney.
She is survived by her son, Jerry “Jay” Bewley and his 3 daughters, Haley Cullum, Chrislyn Bewley and Emma Bewley, who were the light of her life. She is also survived by her sister, Irma Robinson, and her baby sister, Carol James and her husband, Archie. She leaves behind her great grandchildren, Lynnlee Cullum and Waylon Jay Cullum; many nieces, nephews; and many, many friends and other relatives.
She worked at Western Electric in Oklahoma City and retired after 33 years of service. She spent every waking moment taking care of her family. She loved taking care of the animals and her plants and just being on “the family property.”
She will never know how much we all will miss her and how much we truly loved her.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, February 10, 2020, at the First Baptist Church in Newcastle.
Burial will follow in the Dibble Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, Sunday, February 9, 2020 at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard.
