Barens, Brittany Nicole, 22, passed away on December 3, 2011 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  She was born March 31, 1989 in Norman, OK to Chad Lunsford and Laura Barens.

She was a manager of the restaurant at Rose State College in Midwest City.  After graduating from Norman High School in 2007, Brittany attended OSU OKC to become an ultrasound technologist and had an interest in special education needs for children.  She enjoyed photography and caring for her puppy, Schotzy Jones and other stray animals that she would take in.  Brittany was the “go to person” if you needed a good listener and was the “champion of the underdog”.  She was a god-mother to several babies including her niece, Jaelyn.  When you are remembering Brittany, remember to quote her favorite phrase, “Hakuna Matata” from The Lion King.

Brittany is survived by her mother, Laura Hayes and her “Daddy” John of OKC; her biological father, Chad Lunsford of Moore, OK; two stepbrothers, Jeff Hayes and Justin Hayes both of OKC; two stepsisters, Amber Dean and Jessica Hayes of Norman; maternal grandparents, Lucille and Richard Gouin of Carrollton, TX, Joe and Donna Barens of Pea Ridge, AR; three aunts, Tammy Meske and husband DJ of Choctaw, OK; Jodi Cravens of Norman and Karie Robey and husband Jeff of McLoud, OK; and numerous cousins.

She is preceded in death by her daughter, Emalyn Alexis Hudgins on February 12, 2008; and brother, Nicolas Ryan Hayes on March 12, 1991.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 12, 2011 in the Chapel of the Havenbrook Funeral Home, 3401 Havenbrook St., Norman.

Burial will conclude in the Dibble Cemetery, Dibble, OK.
