Hazel Arnold, age 75 of Dibble, passed away Monday, September 14, 2020. Hazel Hackney was born March 24, 1945 in Purcell, OK, the youngest of 10 children born to Willie Dee Hackney and Lou Ada (Hall) Hackney. Hazel was raised in Dibble and attended school there, graduating with the Class of 1963. By chance, Hazel met a young serviceman who had just returned home from the war. His name was Raymond Earl Arnold, and the rest as they say, is history. They fell in love and were married December 29, 1967, and they made their first home in Norman. Hazel was a very talented seamstress. She worked for a local clothing manufacture for many years. But a longing for home and life in the country led her and Raymond back to Dibble. They built a home east of town where they could raise chickens and turkeys, racing pigeons and pigmy goats. And though Hazel never had any children of her own, she was a “mother” to her many nieces and nephews. Hazel loved the Lord and enjoyed studying the Bible continuously. She was very proud of having read the Bible from front to back at least 3 times. Hazel was a longtime and faithful member of the Iron Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. She was a wonderful wife, sister, aunt and a true friend, and will be dearly missed!
She was preceded in death by: Her husband, Raymond Earl Arnold; Her parents, Willie and Maw Hackney and Her siblings, Noveline Followwill, Cordelia Estes, Imogene Sawyer, Betty Vaughn, John Hackney, James Hackney, Ed Hackney and Joe Hackney.
Hazel is survived by: Her brother, Tommy Hackney of Chickasha; Several nieces and nephews that she adored as her own and a host of other family and friends.
Graveside Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Friday, September 18, 2020, at the Dibble Cemetery. Send online condolences @ www.wilsonlittle.com.
