Theodore “Ted” Leon Williams Sr. age 68 of Wanette, passed away unexpectedly while working in his yard on Wednesday, February 10, 2016. Ted was born on December 30, 1947 in Oklahoma City, OK. He was the 3rd child of eight children. His parents were Leon Williams and Mae LaVelle Turner. Ted grew up in southeast OKC and attended Southeast High School, graduating in 1966. During his senior year, he married Marilyn Towers on March 20, 1966. Together they raised two children, Sherri and Ted “Butch” Jr. Ted and Marilyn lived in the OKC area for a number of years, Newalla for four years and then moved to Byars in 1989. While in OKC he first worked for Sooner Box Company, later Love Box Company, then for Scrivener Foods. After retiring from Scrivener in the early 1990’s and worked several years for the Purcell Farm and Ranch Store in Purcell. Several years after Marilyn passed away, Ted married Rosemary Finney on Feb. 14, 2009. They made their home in Byars for a number of years before moving to Wanette where they live today. Ted was a faithful Christian and a active member of the Byars Baptist Church. Ted was a hard worker throughout his life and after he retired he continued working hard as a volunteer. He spent countless hours mowing yards for his neighbors, for the elderly, and for his church. He was a long time member of the Wanette Lions Club, he served as a board member for the Wanette Senior Citizens Center. He was a past member on the Wanette Community Board and for many years he helped as a church sponsor for Falls Creek. Most of all, Ted was a caring and compassionate son-in-law. Every day he looked after the affairs of his mother-in-law’s. He had many hobbies including, going to garage sales, traveling, riding motorcycles, and raising farm animals. He enjoyed collecting things, he was an avid gardener, he enjoyed watching old movies and he never met a stranger. He will be remembered as a loving husband and father, he was a wonderful brother, grandfather and uncle. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by: Parents, Leon and Mae Williams; First wife, Marilyn Williams on Sept, 15, 2003; Step-father, J. W. Tucker on Dec. 26, 2013; 2 Brother, Galen Tucker and Donald Williams.

He is survived by: Wife, Rosemary Williams of the home in Wanette, One son, Ted “Butch” Williams Jr. and wife Shar of Pauls Valley; One daughter, Sherri Gentry and husband Marcus of Del City; two step-daughters, Angela Cloud of Sasakwa and Kimberly Patterson of Drumright; 3 brothers, David Williams of Kingston, Roy Williams of Harrah, Troy Williams of McLoud; 2 sisters, Sandra Brown of OKC, Kathy Mabrey of OKC; 2 grandchildren, Amanda Gentry and Brandon Williams, both of Norman; 8 step-grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; and a special great nephew, Elijah; also many other nieces, nephews and other relatives and friend.

Funeral services will be 10:00 am Monday, February 15, 2016 at Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel in Purcell. Interment will be at the Byars Cemetery.
